Suzuki S-Cross Spied on Indian Roads

The Suzuki S-Cross has been spotted testing on Indian roads. The spy shots revealed interior of the car. Indian launch expected to happen early next year.
Maruti Suzuki India is readying a bunch of new products to secure their position as the market leader in the Indian auto industry. Apart from further strengthening their small cars portfolio, Maruti Suzuki also has a number of crossover and SUVs in the cards. The first one to be introduced in the Indian market is the S-Cross.
Launch expected to happen early next year
Maruti's intention of launching the S-Cross in the Indian car market was signaled by the presence of the car at their stand in the 2014 Auto Expo. Along with the Ciaz, the S-Cross will be Maruti's attempt to gain presence in the more premium or up-market segment of the Indian car market, a segment that they haven't really been able to capture through their previous products.
Interior shots of the Indian S-Cross
The cars spotted testing are said to be the diesel versions as the interior shot revealed a tachometer which marked till 6,000rpm. The shot also revealed that the car is equipped by a 6-speed manual transmission.

The Indian-spec S-Cross is expected to be powered by a choice of 1.6litre petrol (the same one that powers the European and Chinese S-Cross), and 1.6litre diesel engines. There has been a number of different speculations in the Indian automotive media and forums regarding the diesel engine that is going to be used in the Indian S-Cross. Some sources revealed that Maruti will use the same 1.6litre Multijet Diesel that currently powers the European S-Cross, while others said that Maruti will instead use Peugeot's DV6 1.6litre HDi engine for the Indian S-Cross.

The S-Cross is expected to be one of the new products that Maruti Suzuki will launch in early 2015, along with a Carry-based LCV codenamed 'Y9T', a heavily revised Alto, and a diesel version of the Celerio. The S-Cross will be followed by a smaller sub-4 meter Maruti Suzuki SUV codenamed 'YBA', also due in 2015.
