Suzuki Celerio Launched in Thailand

Bangkok, May 29, 2014. Suzuki's Thai subsidiary Suzuki Motor Thailand Co. Ltd. launched their second eco-car product, the Suzuki Celerio. The Celerio is Suzuki's second product to participate in the Thai government's eco-car program, and at a starting price of 359,000 baht, will be the most affordable new car in the Thai car market.

The Thai-spec Celerio is powered by the K10B engine mated with either a 5-speed manual transmission or a CVT automatic transmission. The CVT versions are expected to be the best-sellers as the Thai market is dominated by cars with automatic transmission.

After local sales, Suzuki Motor Thailand will begin export of the Celerio to other markets, including Europe, Australia, and neighbouring ASEAN countries later this year.

Suzuki Indonesia Starts Export of Wagon R to Pakistan

Jakarta, June 5, 2014. Suzuki's Indonesian subsidiary, PT. Suzuki Indomobil Motor (SIM) begins the export of Wagon R to Pakistan in a ceremony dubbed "Suzuki LCGC Export to Pakistan". SIM targets an intial of 1.200 units of Wagon R export per month (a total of 20.00 units in 2014) to Pakistan in CKD (Completely Knocked Down) form. 

Through the Wagon R (sold as "Karimun Wagon R" in Indonesia), SIM participates in the Indonesian government's LCGC (Low Cost Green Car) program, which requires manufacturers participating to locally manufacture their LCGC products with high level of local content. LCGC products must have an engine capacity of under 1.200cc (for petrol) and under 1.300cc (for diesel), and a fuel consumption level of at least 20km/l. The Karimun Wagon R is currently the 3rd best selling LCGC in Indonesia, behind Toyota Agya and Daihatsu Ayla, with a total of 13.702 units sold since it was launched last November.

Export of the Wagon R to other countries, particularly the growing markets in the ASEAN region, will commence in the coming time.

In the event, SIM also announced that they are building a new automobile plant in Cikarang, West Java, which is expected to be completed in 2015. An engine and transmission plant in the same area has been completed and operational as of 2014. The new plants will increase SIM's production capacity, enabling them to satisfy the high local demand of their products, increase exports to other countries, and locally manufacture more new products.
